Round 1 of the 2016 HKRFU Premier Club Rugby competition saw the introduction of the points scoring variation that will be trialled throughout the Mitre 10 Heartland Championship. Tries are worth 6 points with all conversions, penalty kicks and drop goals worth 2 points and a penalty try is worth 8 points (with no shot at goal taken).
