It is with much sadness that we learn of the passing of Dean Whiti.
Dean was a much-loved member of our Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Referees Association and a legend of a bloke. He was always quick to put his hand up to referee, and really enjoyed refereeing Secondary School Rugby and Women’s Rugby along with Refereeing and AR’ing club games every weekend.
We quite often tell the story about how Dean, like many of our referees, would referee a college game in the morning, a Senior Reserve game in the afternoon and then AR a Premier game, leaving home first thing on a Saturday and getting home when its dark.
We’ll dearly miss his banter, the way he interacted with everyone in our rugby community and catching up with him over a beer after a game.
On a personal level, we will miss dearly the regular catch up’s we would have with Deano in the office. Having a laugh and enjoying very much Deano’s beautiful spirit, was always fun.
We have lost a true community servant and our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with Shirley and whanau.
RIP Deano ❤️
Much Love Aleni, Cam, Corey, Linda & Ryan.
