Foxton Rugby Club’s 13 Year Old Yvonne Taiaroa
takes on the Boys with Force
At 13 years of age Yvonne Taiaroa isn’t afraid to take on the boys. She’s an excellent fast runner and has amazing skills and certainly knows how to give the boys a run for their money. Yvonne has exceptional tackling techniques no matter what the size of the boy she’s tackling. Playing against Kia Toa, it was a hard game with Kia Toa winning 35 nil.
Yvonne along with other team players, have been selected to attend the Horowhenua Kapiti Representative selections this week.
John Duthie, life member of the club and HKRU Committee member said “She is an amazing player and will certainly be a good contender for the Representative selections. She stood out amongst all the other players, she never backed off, kept focus on what she was meant to be doing and never gave up during the entire game. If we had 14 other players like her, it would be an amazing team.” John has six championships for Foxton under his belt, won two premierships two years in a row and coached the Manawatu Under 20’s for two years; John knows just how good she is.
