The HK U14 team have spent the past few days in Taupo at the North Island Heartland U14 Development camp. The camp was a great initiative where our coaches had the opportunity the coach a different group of players and the players were coached by different coaches for the first two days. With some of the players not used to the long training days, a big focus for our players was recovery and a dip in the lake at the end of each day soon sorted that. Wednesday was game-day for our team as they took on King Country U14’s. Our U14 team played well and done themselves proud, leading 15-14 until King Country scored to take the lead with 15 minutes to go. A couple of late tries to King Country blew the score out a little which didn’t reflect the closeness of the game. Our players and coaches took a lot of learnings out of the camp and it are looking forward to putting those onto the park in a few weeks’ time when their competition starts.
